Goetz Instrument Program

In recognition of the long-standing contribution of our co-founder to the field of remote sensing, and in honor of his 21 years with the University of Colorado, ASD has established this annual program designed to further encourage a creative research environment within the Remote Sensing and Field Spectroscopy world-wide community. The intent is to provide a simple mechanism for supporting small research efforts which can quickly establish concept viability, or rule out further consideration, by providing temporary use of a field spectroradiometer, which might otherwise be difficult to obtain.

Each recipient will also be eligible to receive up to a total of $500 to cover publication charges (if the resulting paper is published in an approved publication) and/or travel assistance for presentation of an accepted abstract at a relevant scientific conference. Proposal submissions for the seventh annual competition must be received by October 15, 2012. This deadline is firm so that the review committee can consider applications during the following month and select recipients. Winners will be announced in early December 2012.

The submissions to the programs opens on April 23, 2012. Make sure you check the eligibility and selection criteria on the ADS Inc. website: http://www.asdi.com/service-and-support/goetz-instrument-support-program.

“Multi-source Geospatial Data Fusion”

June 10-16, 2012, George Mason University Campus, Fairfax, Virginia

http://www.asprs.org/Conferences/SAC-2012

Join the ASPRS Student Advisory Council (SAC) at George Mason
University in northern Virginia for the 1st Annual ASPRS Student
Advisory Council Summer Conference, June 10th through June 16th, 2012!

This summer conference for students will consist of lectures by
professionals of industry and academia on geospatial theory, data
fusion, conflation, and integration, geospatial technology, and
geospatial analysis. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to meet
and network with other students in the field and professionals in the
industry.

The fields of remote sensing and geographic information systems are
very specialized in scope. Multi-source geospatial data fusion merges
the hard and soft sciences which are applied in remote sensing, GIS,
photogrammetry, and geospatial intelligence. Geospatial intelligence
includes specialties from atmospheric and physical sciences,
competitive business strategy, cartography, imagery analysis, and
geodetic sciences, to name a few. The fusion of geospatial
intelligence has become an integral piece to emergency management and
first response, as well as supporting United States policy-makers and
law enforcement.

Each prospective attendee must apply and be accepted in order to
attend this special conference. The deadline to apply is April 16,
2012. Please go to http://www.asprs.org/Conferences/SAC-2012/ to
submit an application to attend this amazing Conference!

All Conference activities will be held at the George Mason University
Campus. The Conference Host Hotel will be the Comfort Inn University
